Frequently asked questions
It's perfectly normal to have questions about health tests. Here are answers to the ones we hear most often.
Cognitive screening and assessment
Individuals who are unable to read should not take the test. The test is not appropriate for older adults who are severely demented.
Yes. If you are able to read and follow directions, you should be able to take the test. The test was designed for self-administration. It is sometimes helpful to ask a family member to sit with an elderly test taker to make sure the instructions are understood.
The test is ideally taken in a quiet environment with minimal interruptions. A separate testing room is ideal, but not necessary. It is best to choose a time when the test taker is awake, alert, and able to set aside up to 45 minutes without interruptions.
If you do not have a family member or another resource to help you, you can reach out to our Support Line. We will schedule a time to have one of our testing team members available for the duration of the test.
You will need a desktop or laptop computer, monitor, and keyboard to take the test. It is not recommended for mobile phones or tablets, as use of a computer keyboard is a critical component of several of the test segments.
We can reset your test up to two times. Reach out to our Support Line. Our goal is to help you complete the test. We will schedule a time for you to take the test, and one of our testing experts will remain on the line to guide you as needed.
